New CD from the raw Finnish blues guitarist...
‘Whole Lotta Things To Do’ (RAM 0005) released on Feb. 27, 2008
Singer-guitarist-songwriter Jo´ Buddy & his drummer wizard Down Home King III have released their second Whole Lotta Things To Do-cd album. After their worldwidely acclaimed debut Grits & Rattles-cd 2006, their musical journey continues strong. Today they deliver an exceptionally delicious roots gumbo that has been cooked & road tested with all the refreshing natural spices like Ragtime, Down Home Blues, Swamp Boogie, Gospel, New Orleans R & B, Soul, Country, Garage Rock, and served in a world class way! All 11 songs on the CD are originals.
This is Jo´ Buddy´s second solo album & as well his 33 rd release that he appears on; this time also with an exceptionally line-up, using only a drummer as the back up band!
Cd has been recorded 100 % live except some backing vocal overdubs by Jo´ Buddy himself. This recording was made in the countryside of Sipoo & Orimattila in Southern Finland.
You may already know or remember Jo´ Buddy (aka Jussi Raulamo) who has been rockin´ for over 25 years in more than 2.000 shows in 10 countries in Europe & Northern America: from solo to big bands & from frontman to sideman in his previous or current line-ups like City Shakers (1983), One O´Clock Humph (1985-98), Groovy Eyes (1993-), Crawfish Kings (1995-96), Tiny Tones (1998-), Cajun du Nord (1997-98) or Helge Tallqvist Band (2004-)...
He has also played with following internationally respected artists like;
Maceo Parker & The Horny Horns, Howard "Louie Bluie" Armstrong, Lazy Lester, Eddy Clearwater, Louisiana Red, Oliver "La La" Morgan, Jim Kweskin, Mr. Johnnie Billington, Chris Thomas King, Kim Wilson, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Gene Taylor, Doyle Bramhall Sr., Junior Watson, Rick Holmstrom, Larry Taylor, Richard Innes, Fred Kaplan, Jeff Turmes, Wes Starr, Jimi Bott, Paul "Lil´ Buck" Senegal, Carlos Guitarlos, Speedy Parks, Lurrie Bell, Doug McLeod, Buddy Reed, Sven Zetterberg, Knut Reiersrud Band, Seasick Steve, Bill Sims, Travis Haddix, Bob Brozman, T.J. Wheeler, Lynwood Slim, R.J. Mischo, Doug Jay, Guy Forsyth, Rockin´ Jake, Little Victor, Harry Banks, Papa Dan & Mr. Jo, Diz Watson & Tony Uter, Big Joe Louis, Two Timers, The Radio Kings, Brian Cober, Danny Marks, Svensson & Dafgård, Little Jenny,Ulf Sandström(of Jump4Joy), Knock Out Greg & Blue Weather, Micke & Lefty, Jussi & Eero Raittinen, Dave Lindholm, Janne Haavisto & Tom Nyman(of Laika & Cosmonauts), Black River Bluesman, Wang Dang Dudes, Wentus Blues Band, Erja Lyytinen & Davide Floreno,...
Jo´ Buddy (42) on vocals & guitar sings soulfully, plays rhythm and simultaneously solo and bass-lines with his low tuned architop guitar (thru his old tuberadio amp!), while his back up band Down Home King III (26) on drums & percussion conjures irresistably free & easy rockin´ hip-shakin´ grooves...They are just TWO GUYS NOTHIN´ MO´ and irrespective their 16 year of age difference they can undoubtedly make their own full band sound.
Their approach is hypnotic, raw, down to earth and laidback. They are mixin´ up inspiringly almost forgotten older & more recent Deep South´s traditions from the 20th century up to now, filtered in a way that no one else is doing anymore. Beware!!! Their tone, feeling & approach moves you into groove & leaves the house in a trance!!!
Check out & enjoy the fruitful meeting of two generations!!!

PRZEMEK DRAHEIM DJ of "The Voice of the Blues"-radio show, POLAND (February 28, 2008)

"Another wonderful collection of electric guitar savagery by Jo´ Buddy and the ever ready Down Home King III on percussion. If you have never heard his playing, think of what an elecric guitar would sound like if it were hooked up to a cement mixer. That goes close to the raw plank plunking on this cd." CHARLIE LANGE, Bluebeat Music, USA (March 2008)
