The JW-JONES BLUES BAND

JW-Jones Biography

New CD out May 13, 2008 on NorthernBlues—Features Little Charlie and Junior Watson!

Dan Aykroyd writes in the new CD’s liner notes “JW’s pure, honest singing plus guitar stars sprinkled throughout on crisp covers and cool originals make this record a yellow dot must-buy addition to the catalog for his fans and for new enthusiasts who are getting to know him." On a broader level, Canada’s national Globe and Mail labeled JW "One of this country's top blues guitar stars."

Only 27 year old, JW-Jones has played throughout the world in Canada, U.S.A., Europe, Australia and South America. He has been invited to play guitar with some of the biggest names in blues today (to play with, not open for), The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Junior Watson, Little Charlie & The Nightcats, Rusty Zinn, Rick Holmstrom, Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers, Anson Funderburgh & The Rockets, The Mannish Boys, the legendary Hubert Sumlin, and many more.

JW-Jones’ reputation among the established greats pays off mightily on his May 13, 2008 release entitled Blueslisted.  It is Jones’ fifth release and most guitar driven project with NorthernBlues Music. It features two of the most influential blues guitarists on the west coast; Little Charlie Baty, and Junior Watson who play together on the same tracks for the first time in a combined 70 year career. It promises to be "a recording of historic importance." Blueslisted also features arguably the best rhythm section in blues, Richard Innes on drums and Larry Taylor on bass. Legendary bluesman Dan Aykroyd penned the liner notes.

Whether recording/touring with Jeff Asselin, and Martin Régimbald, or adding the heavy grooves of Jesse Whiteley on organ, the musicians with Jones always add a powerful energy to the stage.  During a special appearance with the band, Hollywood celebrity and fan, Dan Aykroyd (Elwood Blues) said "this is an amazing blues band, and I've played with the best!"

JW Jones’ fourth CD, Kissing in 29 Days (2006), featured the legendary Ray Charles sax player, David "Fathead" Newman. Their third album, My Kind Of Evil (2004), was produced by multi-Grammy nominee Kim Wilson (The Fabulous Thunderbirds), and features Canadian guest star Colin James on two smokin' tracks.

All discs have garnered radio-play worldwide, including heavy rotation on select commercial radio stations, and features on shows such as the internationally syndicated House of Blues Radio Hour. The buzz this band has created over the last few years earned them a national award for Electric Act of the Year at Toronto's Maple Blues Awards and rave reviews around the globe.  Their heavy schedule ranks the band as one of the hardest touring blues acts on the continent.

JW-Jones and his blues band are ready to take on any challenge, and with their singular sound, new album, and live show, they plan on setting the world on fire one country at a time!
